Darryl Han

Research Officer / lab manager 2022-

Darryl graduated from National University of Singapore in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours), majoring in life sciences. Darryl previously attended internships in Singapore General Hospital’s Department of Pharmacy focusing on antibiotic characterisation of carbapenem resistant clinical isolates, and National Parks, Animal and Plant Health Centre, focusing on antibiotics surveillance in farm animals. Darryl is currently interested in working with zebrafish models and hopes to contribute towards the field of infectious diseases. Darryl also enjoys reading, trekking, and keeping himself active during his free time.

Xiangyu Sui

A*STAR SINGA PhD Student 2023-

Xiangyu completed her BSc in China and then obtained a Masters degree at Imperial College London, majoring in Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology. Xiangyu enjoyed working with zebrafish model during her masters project and is interested to investigate how zebrafish models human infectious diseases. As you can tell from the photo, Xiangyu is a crazy fan of pandas and enjoys watching panda videos during her spare time.

Dr David Costa

Scientist 2023-

David obtained an Integrated Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (University of Porto, Portugal) in 2012. In 2014, he received a fellowship to evaluate the antiparasitic activity of novel compounds at IBMC/i3S (Porto, Portugal; Cordeiro da Silva Lab). He then focused on the infectivity of malaria sporozoites and was awarded a PhD degree in 2021 for this work, performed at i3S (Tavares Lab) and Institut Pasteur (Paris, France; Amino Lab). After a brief period as a Postdoc to continue his PhD projects, he joined the Oehlers Lab to pursue his interest in infectious diseases, now with zebrafish and mycobacteria. Outside the lab, David enjoys playing tennis, video games, traveling and complaining about the weather.

Denise Wee

Research Officer 2023-

Denise obtained her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biological Sciences from Nanyang Technological University in 2023. Her prior internships and final year project provided her the opportunity to work closely with various laboratory animals (including long-tailed macaques and micropigs) as well as penguins from the Jurong Bird Park Singapore. Outside of work, Denise spends majority of her free time watching Youtube or Netflix, annoying her pet poodle and spending money on unnecessary things.
